Tell us a little about yourselves!
From the moment we met, we bonded over our love for life and shared intellectual curiosities. Abheek is an investor and former entrepreneur. Roslyn is a pet brand founder, and passionate about all things art, design, and wellness. We are pet parents to three loving animals, Lola our doberman, Xixi our rescue black cat, and Miso our Persian cat. We call Singapore home, but travel frequently between Southeast Asia, California, and Europe.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We wanted a truly escapist romantic wedding, and an opportunity to celebrate love with our closest friends and family.
We are obsessed with the magic of the Amalfi Coast. We are drawn to the dramatic landscapes, incredible food, and the fascinating lore of the region. Like so many before us, we fell in love with the Amalfi coast on our first visit there.
While neither of us are religious, we truly wanted to pay homage to Indian and Singaporean culture in our customs and aesthetics.
How many guests did you have?
About 100.
Tell us about your outfits.
For the pre-wedding pizza party, Roslyn wore a maxi knit dress from Asta Resort, and pearl clutch from Cult Gaia. For the wedding day, Abheek wore a Sherwani from Shantanu and Nikhil while Roslyn wore a custom Seema Gujral Lehenga set– both Indian designers whose work we love. For the afterparty, we changed into classic black tie attire, a nod to our venue and Italian dolce vita. Roslyn wore Italian brands Giuseppe di Morabito and GCDS.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We invited people we love from all over the world. It was a big trip for everyone, so we wanted to make sure they had a good time.
When we planned the wedding, we only focused on the minute details. We forgot the sheer serendipity that would occur when our friends and family from different walks of lives met. We even got a close friend to solemnize for us, and two of our friends to DJ. It warmed our hearts seeing how our guests bonded and connected during this celebration.
We love music, so we were also very hands on in terms of music choices. We organized a small boat day around Capri the day before our pre-wedding party. We also made sure to have a small after party after every event, and to organize DJs whose music we love.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We made up the wedding rules as we went along. We arranged a baraat drummer from Rome just so we could make a traditional Indian entrance. It was so much fun having our guests dance their way down the Sorrento coast to Villa Astor. We also had a friend host a loud, auspicious Singaporean toast in the spur of the moment.
Any tips for couples getting married?
First off, pick the right planner. It makes all the difference, and we were super lucky to get that one right!
When the venue feels right, go for it. The moment we walked into Villa Astor we turned to each other immediately and said “Ok, this is where we’re getting married.” There was no discussion.
Everything falls into place after.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
We loved working with Giuditta and team at Postcard Perfect Weddings, and with Samantha Rivieccio, Giuseppe Piserchia and team who were our amazing photographers and videographers.
