Tell us a little about yourselves!

We’ve been together for over 7 years now! Albert works in video production and I’m a product designer. We actually met while working as a waiter and waitress in a restaurant, and since then we’ve built our careers and many of our projects side by side. We love having lots of projects going on at the same time. We tend to make big decisions on impulse, just because they feel right, and we try to move forward without overthinking the long term. Sometimes we miss, sometimes it works out!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

As we live in Paris, we choose Paris for practical reasons, but there was no way we were going to choose a conventional and expected wedding venue, soulless venues honestly gave us anxiety during visits.

After the civil ceremony, we gathered in a small group at a Tunisian restaurant in the 17th arrondissement, La Fille du Boucher. It was probably the best night of the whole wedding, to be honest. Just our friends, a DJ, and merguez sandwiches — what more could you ask for?

Because we were getting married in winter, we wanted a place that felt warm, cozy, and a little transporting—November in Paris can feel a bit gloomy. When Salle Gaveau agreed to a visit, it was a real relief. The moment we stepped inside, we could immediately picture everything. I had an instant crush on the yellow velvet theatre seats.

How many guests did you have?

Around 200 guests—we have big and very blended families.

What was your budget?

Our budget was really a balance between falling in love with certain things and staying reasonable. There were a few vendors we were determined to keep no matter what, and others we decided to let go of, which was definitely for the best ! In the end, we chose to do fewer things, but do them well, rather than go for something bigger and more bling.

Tell us about your outfits.

For the civil ceremony on November 6th, the story actually started 3 months earlier, by pure chance. In August, while walking around Menorca, we passed a tiny, super colorful and eclectic boutique. In the window there was the cutest white denim mini skirt. We went in out of curiosity and met Jorge and Mark, an adorable couple who design bold, made-to-measure pieces. When I told them we were getting married in three months and that I loved the denim from that skirt but had a very specific silhouette in mind, Mark casually told me to come back in two days and that he’d sketch a few ideas. Two days later I came back, instantly fell for one of the designs, they took my measurements, and fifteen days before the civil ceremony the piece arrived at home. It was definitely a bit of a gamble, but completely worth it.

Albert was pretty relaxed about his look too. He fell for a navy herringbone jacket found in Paris and simply paired it with Uniqlo trousers, effortless and perfect.

For the ceremony, I wore a simple taffeta dress inspired by 1950s silhouettes. I wanted something timeless, but above all very clean, without too many embellishments. I also had a small lace capelet for the ceremony, which I’ve since worn again with jeans and honestly, wearing pieces from your wedding on a random Tuesday night is pretty cool.

Albert chose a simple navy double-breasted Lardini suit that fit him beautifully.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

I started a new job in September, so the whole wedding ended up being planned in just three months. We didn’t want to follow any standard formula, so we kept coming up with ideas right up until the last minute, and spent a lot of time running around to make them happen, basically until the week before.

But at some point we just told ourselves: it will be what it will be. We quickly stopped overthinking how everything would look and we instead focused our energy on small and cute details.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

It was actually more about the elements we didn’t want to incorporate. The venue was already so beautiful that we simply wanted to make it feel a bit more comfortable, a few sofas, some interior plants, rugs, and three dried floral arrangements placed high up, but that was it. I really didn’t want a flower-lined aisle or any of the usual decorative extras that come with it.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Don’t be too ready. Albert always says that the things you remember most are the ones you never expect — and that’s exactly what happened. The moments we remember best are all the ones we had planned the least. You’ll end up loving the most unexpected, slightly incongruous moments! And of course, take your old Converse with you, it’s a must!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Oh yes, absolutely! When we said earlier that we chose to surround ourselves with fewer people but the right ones, I was very much thinking of Coucoustudio Love, our photographer (who was joined by the wonderful Claire for the evening).

We didn’t expect to have such a big crush, but I think we actually made a beautiful new friend during our wedding. She understood us immediately and blended in with our friends so naturally, no awkwardness, no forced poses, just the most incredible kindness that went far beyond the wedding itself. Whenever we talk about our wedding now, we always say how lucky we were to have had an Annabelle by our side!
