Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Before our larger ceremonial wedding a few weeks later, we really wanted a small, intimate civil ceremony with our closest family and friends. Having both lived in London for the past nine years—and with Isobel being born in Chelsea—it felt completely natural to hold the registry at Chelsea Town Hall.

How many guests did you have?

The ceremony was attended by 15 of our closest family and friends, and later in the evening another 30 friends joined us to continue the celebrations.

What was your budget?

With a bigger wedding still to come, our goal was to keep this day simple and budget-friendly—without compromising on style. We sourced as much as possible ourselves, and all in, the day cost around £6k including the venue, flowers, rings, photographer, and dinner/drinks (outfits not included—we didn’t indulge each in know how much these cost!).

Tell us about your outfits!

Staying true to her heritage, Isobel wore Irish designer Simone Rocha for her dress and bag, paired with silver Loewe flower sunglasses and timeless heels.

Sam opted for an offbeat black tie look featuring a Vivienne Westwood blazer, Oliver Brown tuxedo trousers, and Paraboot shoes.

The red rose bouquet—bought on the day—tied both looks together, combining red roses and white ribbon, assembled by the two of us just 30 minutes before leaving. Just in time!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Simplicity and ease were our biggest priorities. We wanted the day to feel natural and effortless, yet still memorable for our family and friends. Since the venue was so close, we even started the morning at our favourite lido before easing into the afternoon. We might have been a little too laid back—not choosing entrance music for the ceremony or even a post-registry bar—but really, we wouldn’t have expected much less.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

While we kept things relaxed, the most important part of the day was sharing that moment with our closest family. That was always the top priority. The next most important thing? The food. We’d always wanted to try Rabbit, and luckily they managed to fit us in with just a month’s notice!

Any tips for couples getting married?

The two best pieces of advice we received throughout the process were:

1.     Take a moment alone together to slow down and appreciate everyone around you.

2.     Relax! Don’t stress over the little things—and if it starts to feel overwhelming, get a wedding planner

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

The following week we celebrated our larger ceremony with 150 guests at Parnham Park. We honestly wouldn’t have managed it without our amazing planner, Freya Macleod from Desiderata Weddings.

The brilliant Rabbit British Bistro for the amazing hospitality and food. The amazing Stephanie at The Flower Shoppe for the great advice the morning of and the red roses.

And finally our photographer Jessica Gwyneth, who we couldn’t be more thankful for. She managed to capture the spirit of the day so well and made it so easy for us to relax into it.
