Tell us a little about yourselves!
We’re Fabienne and Jannis, and we call Bern our home, which we share with our old grandpa dog, Ghandi. We’ve been together since high school and have grown side by side ever since.
Fabienne is a passionate researcher exploring how children grow up in an increasingly digital world.
Jannis co-owns a small IT company and loves building solutions that make everyday life a bit easier.
Together, we enjoy exploring the world, spending time with our friends, or just playing some games at home.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
The Heitere Fahne embodies the values that matter most to us like inclusion, fairness and equality. We want to give those values space at our celebration and share them with our guests. And since we’re spending a significant amount of money, we want to be sure it goes to the right people. Additionally, the Heitere Fahne offers a wonderfully warm, creative, and unconventional atmosphere, a space where everyone feels welcome and free to simply be themselves.
How many guests did you have?
110.
What was your budget?
CHF 25’000.
Tell us about your outfits.
Fabienne wore wide white trousers and a crop top, paired with a short-cropped blazer and green shoes. The watch she wore had already belonged to her Nonna and later to her godmother. It was gifted to her for the wedding. Two of the rings were made from vintage silver cutlery that had been reworked and gold-plated. Pieces they had bought many years ago and kept ever since.
In contrast, Jannis dressed in an all-black suit, from his shoes to his blazer.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
It makes an incredible difference when the people around you share your values and bring good energy, from Annabelle from Coucoustudio Love behind the camera, to Sina guiding the ceremony, to the team at the Heitere Fahne, and even the dessert from Apfelgold. Together with our fantastic bridesmaids and a trusty Excel list, we felt completely supported every step of the way.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
One of the main reasons we chose to marry after more than 14 years together was the sudden passing of Fabienne’s brother Dominik last year. His loss reminded us of how fragile life is, and that waiting for the “perfect” moment simply doesn’t make sense. Honouring Dominik became one of the most meaningful elements of our day, and Sina wove this into the ceremony with great sensitivity and beauty.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Don’t stress! What truly matters are the people you choose to share the day with - everything else will fall into place.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Coucoustudio Love: Annabelle captured our celebration in a wonderful way. With her artistic eye, she manages to transform small, fleeting, emotional and at the same time exuberant moments into something lasting and deeply touching. We were able to just be ourselves and had a lot of fun doing so.
Kollektiv Feierwerk: From our first meeting with Sina, we felt completely at ease. Her empathetic and warm manner touched us deeply, giving us confidence from the outset that our wedding ceremony would be something very special. We couldn't have imagined a more beautiful ceremony that suited us better. It was an unforgettable moment, full of warmth, laughter, and genuine emotion.
