Tell us a little about yourselves!
Anders and I met five years ago at a dinner party in Copenhagen, where we both live. Since then, we've been traveling the world and building our home together. Now, we're expecting our first child, and we both can't wait for this next chapter to begin.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Back when we first started dating, Anders invited me out in a quite unconventional way. He told me we were going on a trip, but I had no idea where. Every day for a week, I got to ask him one yes-or-no question, and the night before takeoff, I finally guessed Italy.
We were away for almost two weeks, which can feel like a long time when you don’t really know each other that well, but time flew by so fast. We ended up in Puglia, where we stayed at this authentic Italian Masseria. The morning coffee, the food, and the beautiful surroundings – every detail was just effortlessly perfect.
On our last night, we went out for dinner, and when we got back, it was late and completely quiet. We lay down on the grass in front of the entrance, talking and laughing. This was the first time we said the words “I love you”, so when we were planning our wedding three years later, Borgo San Marco just seemed like the perfect place.
How many guests did you have?
80 of our closest friends and family.
Tell us about your outfits.
I immediately knew I wanted to work with the talented Rikke Hubert from Jerome Studio, as I’ve been following her work for years. It was such a fun experience being part of the design process. We explored many different options but ended up going with the very first sketch: a sheer dress in silk georgette with drapings and a high slit.
Anders wore a relaxed-fit suit from the Danish brand Sunflower. He styled it with a bolo tie and chunky shoes from Prada, along with a pair of pink-lensed sunglasses from Flatlist Eyewear. He might work in finance, but he dresses like a rockstar, and I love that!
We were both wearing a necklace from Lodarmi, made by my dear friend Anna, who owns the brand. The pendants were designed with the imprint of a coral she found on a dive in Raja Ampat. We received them as a gift on the morning of our wedding, and each had an engraving of the letter “A” for Anders and Amanda.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
To have fun! Sometimes, big events can be tied up with too many traditions and formalities. The most important thing for us was to enjoy the weekend and have fun with our guests.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We couldn’t really figure out what we wanted for the music during the ceremony. We liked the idea of an instrument, but both thought a harpist might be a bit too much. Just a few weeks before the wedding, we asked my brother if he'd be up for the job - and luckily for us, he said yes.
Walking down the aisle was such a perfect moment. Friends and family were cheering, I had my dad by my side, my future husband waiting for me and my brother playing Jimi Hendrix on electric guitar. He absolutely aced the assignment, and looking back at it now, it couldn’t have been any different.
Any tips for couples getting married?
We actually got a tip that we followed ourselves. At one point during dinner, we snuck out, just me and Anders. We went to the rooftop terrace, where we could see the whole table. We shared a drink and enjoyed a few minutes watching our wedding from above.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
Every single one of the vendors we worked with was great, but we would really like to thank our photographer, Francesca Angrisano, for capturing these beautiful memories.
We also have to mention Giuditta and Giada from Postcard Perfect the staff at Borgo San Marco, and our production manager, Antonio Colaruotolo, who set up a light show and sound system worthy of Glastonbury.
