Real Wedding | Savannah + Darnall

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Darnall and I met in Atlanta on Labor Day of 2019 and bonded over our love of travel. We started dating that November, went to Bali for 3 weeks in December and January, and jump started our relationship by living with his parents for two months during quarantine. We then moved in together in May of 2020, and were engaged in San Miguel de Allende that December. He is very Type A and I am Type B so in this case - opposites attract!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We knew we wanted a short engagement but also something international - we love to travel so doing something stateside just didn't seem like us. The pandemic made it very difficult for us to plan an international wedding, so after a few months of debating on what to do, we decided to have a civil ceremony where we were married by Darnall's dad in March just in front of family. We then "eloped" at Amanyara in Turks and Caicos in May to have a special ceremony for just the two of us. Then to not end the celebrations, we had a reception party for friends and family in Atlanta.

How many guests did you have?

Just the two of us!

Tell us about your outfits.

I really wanted to have an editorial feel, but wanted to keep my looks minimal and effortless.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

To have fun and make it easy! Since we eloped, the Amanyara team made it stress free and were able to incorporate my vision with just a few pictures and phone calls.

Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during the pandemic?

Remember what the day is about! It's not about your friends or family - it's about the two of you and the love you have for each other! Don't forget about that in the planning process....opinions are always coming in from all directions so I know it can be tough to not get swept up in the unimportant stuff!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us more about?

Michelle Scott (the photographer) was a gamechanger! She was incredible and I could not recommend her enough. Leigh Carter of Revelry East was my planner for the reception party. She was creative and made everything perfect.
