Tell us a little about yourselves!
Two teachers living in Baltimore! Tinder love story.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
Timing was most important to us as we wanted Sarah’s mom to marry us. Unfortunately she passed away two months before our wedding. Sarah’s stepmom (her mom’s wife) got ordained three days before the wedding! The Dye House felt like the right choice because the venue is like a blank canvas and allowed us to create the vibe we wanted. Moody and sexy rococo!
How many guests did you have?Â
140. Our day was captured by Coral Dove.
Tell us about your outfits.
We worked closely with Jen Boyne to create Mikynsi’s suit with a matching fabric to Sarah’s dress. Sarah’s Kim Kassas dress, which she found shortly after getting engaged, set the scene for the aesthetic of the rest of the wedding.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We like to party. Our friends and family are big partiers so we knew we were going to have a packed dance floor from start to finish. Late night espresso martinis were an excellent choice. Sarah is an aspiring wedding planner, so planning her own wedding was great practice.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
We wanted the aesthetic to feel different and sexy. We knew all red was a bold choice but we are thrilled with how it turned out.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Plan every single detail together. Don’t separate tasks during planning. Make it fun! Date night martinis and wedding planning once a week is how we got through. We knew we wanted to be together for life so we treated the wedding as a party and a celebration. It took the pressure off because the end goal is life together.
