Real Wedding | Sarah + Braden

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met at a party on the parade route in Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2016 and decided to grow roots in Austin, TX shortly after. Braden is in Commercial Real Estate and Sarah is a Landscape Designer. We have a rescue dog named Baby.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Braden is from New Orleans and Sarah’s family is from Texas. We wanted to share Braden’s culture to Sarah’s family. New Orleans was hit hard during the pandemic and we wanted to help.

How many guests did you have?

400.

Tell us about your outfits.

For my wedding day, I wanted to do a classic Hollywood vibe. We were getting married the oldest cathedral in the States and a reception at Brennan's, which is a historic restaurant from the 40’s. I wanted to match that with a timeless look. I wanted a look that was not a traditional bridal look, so I went for something that I would wear to the Oscars.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

For everyone to have a good time. We made sure to have a bar in every corner, a plethora of delicious cajun food, and fun entertainment. After leaving the Cathedral, a second line band greeted us. We did the second line from the Cathedral around the iconic Jackson Square to Brennan’s, where staff greeted everyone with champagne.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

I wanted to capture the full New Orleans experience for my out of town guests. The night before, the wedding party went to Café Beignet and then we met all the wedding guests on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen. We danced all night and ended at Ceasar’s casino for some late night gambling. From the ceremony next to Jackson Square to a second line to Brennan’s, we hit all the best parts about the culture of New Orleans.

Any tips for couples getting married?

Don’t sweat the little things. Nothing is perfect, so you have to go with the flow and not let little mishaps affect your big day!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

My photographer,Sophie Lin Berard, makes you feel like an instant best friend. Braden and I hate taking pictures, but with Sophie, it felt like we were just hanging out with friends. She also really helped me on prioritizing what I wanted that day. My favorite moment with her was when we did our couple portraits halfway through the reception. We were so sweaty from dancing, but they were some of my absolute favorite pictures. She was able to fully capture our love and happiness on that night! Also, my wedding planner, Anna of of An.Gle Events, made the entire wedding planning process a dream. Anna’s organization and expertise had me feeling like I was a princess at a ball. I fully trusted her vision and it could not have been more perfect!
