Tell us a little about yourselves!Â
We met 6 years ago in Melbourne, we literally bumped shoulders and kissed before saying hi to one another. It was a moment of fate. Charlie is from London and is a Surveyor and Olivia was born in Melbourne and is a Body Image & Eating Psychology Counsellor.
When Olivia got approved for her UK partner Visa, Charlie proposed and we basically ran to the wedding office in London. We had been waiting for this moment together as a couple. We planned our wedding in 4 weeks.
Why did you decide to get married where you did?Â
We both now live in London together with our Golden Retriever Auro. Our little family has been through a lot the past year and it was important that our dog was present with us when we made our vows. Marylebone Town Hall is the only registry office in London that accepts pets at ceremonies. We really planned it all around that.
How many guests did you have?
17. We chose to keep our wedding day intimate and have only our immediate families present, as they had not yet met in person. The week before our wedding our families were at last brought together - and our wedding made that happen. This time together was super precious and special to us.
What was your budget?
We didn't have one, we allowed ourselves to spend on things that we really loved and wanted since we were having a small wedding.
Tell us about your outfits.
Olivia Maree was fortunate to email London-based designer Paula Nadal last minute to enquire about one of her silk shirts called the Chadwick. Paula was booked out until 2025 but found 10 minutes to squeeze Olivia in for a fitting. Paula then offered to make Olivias entire outfit, including the veil, which was amazing - since it was so last minute! Paula was unbelievably kind, generous and calm during the fittings. It was important to Olivia that on the day she felt like herself and that she had a comfortable outfit on, that would allow her to enjoy a relaxed lunch with her family. The beautiful Victorian chokers Olivia wore were also made by Paula Nadal.
Charlie was also a last-minute groom! He knew he wanted something that felt like a traditional English vibe but still felt contemporary. He was lucky to walk into Boss on Regent street and have Luca style his entire outfit in less than an hour. The suit was then customised and tailored over a few fittings.Â
Our dogs ivory leather collar and leash is from Barc London.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
Having our nieces and nephews from Melbourne and London together for the first time on our wedding day. We were saying meaningful vows to one another and having our families intimately involved in our ceremony and entire day.
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
Having our dog present was a really important element for us. We also wanted the day to feel relaxed and that's definitely what we achieved. We had a nice moment at our ceremony called the warming of the rings. Each of our family members held our rings and gave them a blessing for us before we had our ring exchange.
Personal details were important to us like the song we chose for our ceremony and walking through Marylebone with Sasha, our photographer at some of our favourite spots. We also started the day how we usually do by taking our dog for a walk in the morning. We wanted the day to feel and resemble most of the other days in our lives.
Any tips for couples getting married?
Take time to slow down before the day, and have some time to yourself to think about this moment in your life and what it means to you. Release expectations of perfection and don’t stress yourself out.
Absolutely, we were really excited to choose particular vendors that felt true to us and our relationship. Our photographer Sasha Dove was unbelievable. She listened to our desire to have natural photos taken and they felt so much like us- we are so grateful she created mixed media images for us. Just wow.
And of course Olivia's outfit designer Paula Nadal. Making a bride's entire outfit including shirt, skirt, veil and necklace in less than three weeks with such graciousness, was unbelievable - and she was just the most sweet and caring person, she made being a bride feel so chill and easy.
