Real Wedding | Lorena + Spencer

Tell us a little about yourselves!

I am most proud of the relationship we have built over the past 4 years. We’re both very driven but laid-back people and that reflects in the family we’ve built together with our daughter Jude.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

Our friend’s beach house is obviously stunning but when we stayed there for a few days during a holiday weekend and began the wedding venue search, I kept envisioning the scenery and how unique the wedding could be there. Architecturally speaking, it’s flawless and you had the plush greenery, flowers and ocean steps away from the backyard. It’s perfection.

How many guests did you have?

60 guests.

Tell us about your outfits.

I wore Danielle Frankel and my Husband wore Theory.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

At the top of our list was that our wedding was unique to us. We did away with the traditional things we’ve seen like bridal parties, first dance, plated dinner and cake cutting. Our focus was experience through food, drinks and music. We wanted our wedding to be dialled in but understated. We really paid close attention to every song that was played from beginning to end and sat for hours putting together playlists that were special to us. We chose cuisine that our guests would drool over and kept speeches and typical 'to do’s' like pictures to a minimum. At the end of the day, it was always about us.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Songs we handpicked, our daughter walking with me down the aisle and being at the altar with us, and a comfy vibe.

Any tips for couples getting married?

This day is about you. We made sure to be so present throughout the entire day/night. We ate all the food, drank all the drinks and really soaked in every moment. Don’t let small things overshadow what the day means for you as a couple. Do what feels good to you-not what others want. Pay for your own wedding so you have full control!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

We were most excited about our food cooked by Augustin Mallmann. He did it all by wood fire on the side of the house and his empanadas were the talk of the wedding. It was not just a wedding dinner, it was a true culinary experience that was fun and a focal point of our wedding. I also have to give a shout-out to my wedding planner Sophia Goff because she was the perfect fit for a laid back bride.

My Photographer, Samantha Dean Photo took incredible shots and completely understood that I did not want cookie cutter photos and more documentary style. I couldn’t have been more satisfied and content with the entire day and team behind it .
