Real Wedding | Liang-Zi + Peter

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We’ve been together for almost 8 years and met while working together in a retail job! Both raised on the Gold Coast in very similar friendship circles, our paths never crossed until later in life!

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We went and toured quite a few venues and Bower Estate was actually the first we went to! We didn’t want to settle for the first place without seeing all the options, but we fell in love with it and ended up going with it!

How many guests did you have?

100. Jac Lee captured our day.

Tell us about your outfits.

My dress is what my friends all described as perfectly me in a dress! My style is quite girly and preppy and I love a big sleeve and detail! I knew I wanted something with a bit of structure and some drama in the skirt!

Pete’s suit is actually a funny story. In his friend group they all got married quite close together in the space of a couple of years – the first one to get married got their grooms party suits from In Stitchu and everyone else just followed suit! Safe to say everyone in his friend group now owns that exact suit!

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

We wanted it to feel really "us". We wanted our guests to walk in and experience the day feeling like it was our personalities and our taste really shining through. We wanted to make sure there were personal touches so people could feel us in every part of the day!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

I definitely wanted to incorporate some handmade elements. We DIY’d so many parts of our wedding and it was such a fun process and I think our loved ones could see the effort we put into making it feel very special.

Any tips for couples getting married?

There’s no such thing as too early! Time really flies by and if you can book things in, get things made etc earlier on in the process, you’ll thank yourself for it down the track! Also just every decision you make, make sure it’s what you and your partner want and it’s not made for someone else!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

We were so lucky with all our vendors! They were all incredible. Remember that your vendors are the people who will be with you on the day so keep that in mind!
