Real Wedding | Clara + Jose

Tell us a little about yourselves!

Jose and I we have been together for 3 years, He is Spanish (from La Coruña, in the north of Spain) and I am French ( from Paris) . After few months together I had a job opportunity in Shanghai, China. But with current Covid situation seeing each other made it very difficult. The quarantine time required when returning to China after a trip to Spain is 3 weeks. After 2.5 years loving each other from far, my contract in China got renewed and we decided we wanted to promise each other that we would always come first no matter how hard and uncertain the situation. And that Jose would come join me in China as soon as it would be possible. As I had a trip planned to Spain for Christmas we decided to get married at that time. Which was only 3 months after getting engaged! When we finally got the papers approved to organize the wedding, we only had less than 2 months to book and plan everything. But we had it clear we wanted to have a small intimate ceremony only with closest family and friends. That is what we did and could not be happier!! It was everything we could hope for…!

How many guests did you have?

We had 28 guests for our civil wedding and 55 guests at our ceremony and reception.

Tell us about your outfits.

For our civil wedding I wore a Zara dress I bought 2 days before the wedding. I have been working for Zara for 6 years and liked the idea of wearing a piece for the wedding. And a traditional Russian scarf from my mother, to honor my Dad (who is of Russian origin) with shoes from Bottega Veneta.

For the ceremony and reception I wore a metallic, lurex silk dress from Forte Forte, that I used as a cape. I made my own slip underdress which was longer at the back with a silk that I bought at Shanghai fabric market. I wore gold Bottega Veneta heels, which were the same as what I wore for our civil wedding.

For the party I changed into a Zara sequin dress and swapped the heels for a pair of grey New Balance sneakers. In my family we dance to a lot of Rock and Roll - so I had to be ready!!

Jose had made an amazing tailored suit from the renowned store Rigbespoke in La Coruna. And I gifted him a Hermès tie that I found in Shanghai few weeks before the wedding.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

To stay true to ourselves as a couple. We wanted to plan a wedding that felt like us. We wanted this moment to be special and intimate. To really enjoy our guests, have lots of emotional moments and dance all night!

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

My favourite moment was the speeches of few of our guests, it was such a special moment... it s all about having all your favourite people in the same room and have a celebration. And on a more technical side, we had a speaker outside as well, so all fresh-air seekers and smokers could play music with their phones and dance there too! Everywhere was a party!

Any tips for couples getting married, particularly during the pandemic?

Be open to that fact that a lot of people might cancel last minute because they are Covid positive or because they cannot risk getting it. But at the end of the day, it there can only be 10 people at your wedding, it will be just as magical!

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Nousnous Photography was amazing! He cares so much about each of his couples. I know because I have the chance to know him! His photos are the best memories you could get of this day. He really knows how to capture each moments. Also the team of Wonnati Wedding Design is amazing (wedding planners) ! They helped me plan a wedding in a little over a month! And all was incredible!
