Tell us a little about yourselves!
We met 8 years ago at a music festival, and have been together ever since. We encourage each other and really do bring out the best in one another. Bree is an Emergency Department Registered Nurse. Shannon is an Electrician, who furthered his career by studying an associate degree in Engineering. We live in Queensland, Australia and share a great love for the beach, good food and traveling. We have an Australian shepherd named Vance, we are utterly obsessed with and we are currently pregnant with our first child, a daughter - we cannot wait to meet her!
Why did you decide to get married where you did?
We always dreamt of eloping in Europe. Once we were engaged we looked at locations together deciphering whether we wanted to have a big wedding close to home or elope. And we always came back to eloping as we loved the idea of going on a long honeymoon together for 3 months to explore Europe and elope while we were there, and the bright Positano scenes felt perfect and so special to us. Every angle is so picturesque, being by the water, the buildings with the beautiful food is our idea if heaven.
How many guests did you have?
Four!
What was your budget?
30k for the wedding day.
Tell us about your outfits.
Bree’s wedding dress for the ceremony is from Made with Love in the Gold Coast. The lace material felt very romantic and it felt as though it suited the Italian wedding occasion.
For the boat I brought a halter neck with a statement low back from Bec & Bridge. This piece felt timeless.
And for the reception dinner I had a custom mini dress made by Siss Studios for something fun, and paired it with tule sleeves from Made with Love.
Shannon wanted a relaxed, linen look. We brought Shannon’s suit locally from YD, his shirt from a boutique in Milan and his brought his boots and belt from R.M Williams.
What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?
We didn’t want to have a stressful process, so we approached it without taking it too seriously and stayed true to ourselves. The most important aspect was that it was a calm, fun day which felt completely us. Where we could spend the day having quality fun time together. Which we definitely did, more than we could have imagined!
Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?
It was important for us to spend the entire day together, from getting ready together and having all the special moments together from the time we woke up till we went to sleep. We also wanted to spend time by the water, as we love the beach. So we charted a private boat for the day to take us around the Amalfi Coast between our ceremony and reception dinner.
Any tips for couples getting married?
There are no rules, just do what feels right for you both and you’ll never have any regrets.
Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?
House of Lucie - our photographer. Khara, what an amazing woman she is. Her work is incredible, she is an angel. Her photography is story telling. It has given us the opportunity to live our day over and over, and to share our day with our loved ones. I feel beyond lucky to of had her apart of our day, she has an eye for detail & capturing intimate moments so organically while making you feel so comfortable.
Lauren, our celebrant from Hungry Hearts Co. did so much more for me than just regular celebrant business, she was there as my hype woman/advice giver/co-ordinating/behind the scenes snapper. I have never heard a more beautiful wedding ceremony by celebrant before (in my own biased opinion), she had me laughing and crying all at once. It felt as though she had known us our whole lives together and spoke about us in our truest form, it was so special and having her speak was the highlight of our day.
Rhys from Hungry Hearts Co., did out videography on Super 8 Film for us for our Positano elopement and he also took some snaps for us for our legal vows back home in Australia. The way he captures moments so effortlessly and makes you feel so comfortable being filmed was magical to watch. He has given us the most magical Super 8 film which we could watch on repeat forever and still cry every time. His happy and fun approach truly made the day exactly how we were hoping for - calm, fun and completely us. We are obsessed with them!
Antonella from Hotel Marincanto assisted us with all our planning within Hotel Marincanto, planning through different time zones you would think there would be challenges. But she made it so easy and nothing was to much to ask, on our wedding night she surprised us with a live band to play us some classic Italian songs. It was an unplanned highlight of everyone’s day day, it felt so special. She is incredible!
I am beyond grateful for these humans, the way they all collaborated together made my day as great as it was. I can’t imagine it being as great without them.
