Tell us about Paloma Lane!

My work is emotion-led with a mix of documentary and editorial influence — focused on honest moments, movement and what is naturally unfolding. I bought my first camera when I was 10 years old and spent time working in styling and weddings, which is where I realised I’m more drawn to being in the middle of the day than planning it.

I keep things relaxed and fun with intentional direction but heaps of room for spontaneity. I’m not into overly posed or heavily directed imagery — I’m more interested in what unfolds naturally, with a bit of chaos and a lot of feeling.

What would you like couples to know about you?

I approach weddings in quite a relaxed, unobtrusive way. I tend to blend in more like a friend than a formal photographer, stepping in when needed but otherwise allowing the day to unfold naturally and without too much direction.

Where are you based?

Sydney, Australia.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I do. I love it. Travelling for weddings always feels special. New places, new energy, and a different rhythm to the day.

How would you describe your style?

Fashion forward documentary candids. Romantic, but cool and real.

What is your most memorable career moment?

Honestly, it was realising I could do this as my job. There’s still a lot of gratitude in that every day. I don’t take it lightly being chosen to document something so important.

What inspires you?

Fashion, flash photography, and real life moments. I’m drawn to work that feels candid but considered, and I’m constantly inspired by movement, light, and the way people naturally interact when they’re not overthinking it.

How would you describe your working style?

Calm, observational, and unobtrusive. I’m not heavy-handed on direction. I’m more interested in reading the room, moving quietly through the day, and letting things unfold naturally while stepping in when needed.

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

I shoot digital and 35mm film. I especially love when couples are open to having their whole day captured on film — there’s something about the slower, more intentional pace of it that fits really beautifully.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes, I do. Every wedding and every couple is never the same, so I keep things flexible depending on the day, location, and what vision the couple has.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

Europe, Italy, France, and anywhere with colourful rooms, quirky design, and interesting architecture, places with strong character and visual personality.

Who is your dream client?

Couples who aren’t focused on ticking every traditional box, but on what feels true to them. The ones who are genuinely celebrating their love and the uniqueness of it. I’m especially drawn to couples who bring something a little unexpected into the day, whether that’s what they wear or small personal details that make it feel completely their own.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

The most memorable weddings I’ve photographed are often the simplest and most intentional ones. When things are less about the details, there’s more space for real moments to unfold. I also always suggest having a quiet moment together during the day and having this in your schedule — it always goes so fast, and it’s a nice moment to pause with one another, be present and say we did it!
