Tell us about your business!
Hallo, I am Natasja, but people closest to me call me Tasj or Kremers. I’m a Dutch born photographer based in Fremantle, Western Australia. I have a strong connection to my home land, The Netherlands and travel back there often when my work takes me in that direction. I’ve been documenting weddings for almost 30 years. My work blends curated portraiture with documentary-style photography, aiming for timelessness.
What would you like couples to know about you?
I have often been told I have a very calming nature on a wedding day. It is important to me to not insert myself too much into the wedding day and only guide when I am needed. I want my couples to feel seen and my aim for that is what I think my clients love about me. It is a different approach every time.
Where are you based?
In Fremantle, Western Australia but travel to the Netherlands usually once or twice a year.
Do you travel for weddings?
With just about 3 decades of experience, I’ve photographed weddings in France, Italy, Hawaii, Bali, Singapore and across Australia.
How would you describe your style?
My work blends curated portraiture with documentary-style photography. Aiming for timelessness. Guided by my belief that “beauty isn’t always pretty” I find beauty in the imperfection, photographing like a rebel “with” a cause. I’m not so much about the staged instead reacting to real emotion to tell stories, highlighting the laughter, tears and passion that people surround themselves with on their wedding days. The beauty lies in the imperfection, living with no regrets because there are no do overs when it comes to celebrating big love. Always driven by a search for connection.
What is your most memorable career moment?
A few seasons ago I received a late invitation by lovers Naomi and Tyson to travel to Bullo River Creek in the Northern Territory. It was just the 3 of us. I was in awe of the place, they got married under a (what I think must be the largest ever in Australia) Boab tree on the station and it was surreal to be there. We went location scouting in a helicopter and it’s one of those days that will stay with me forever. A lot of the time I just stop and take a moment of appreciation for where my clients take me.
What inspires you?
I am a child of the 70s and 80s and my work is greatly influenced by my mother and grandfather, both artists, and the many travels to galleries in the Netherlands and surrounding countries with my dad who was a modern art collector. It has taught me to be guided by what makes me feel.
How would you describe your working style?
I’m driven by authenticity and intuition, allowing moments to unfold naturally while gently guiding my couples into beautiful light. My approach is calm, unobtrusive, and supportive—offering subtle direction when needed, but always preserving the real emotions at the heart of the day.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
I was trained in film photography in the early 90s and it drives me creatively so I shoot with a blend of that and digital cameras.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
I have a Base Coverage and from there my couples can customise from there depending on what they are planning.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
Probably the inclusion of film, it makes me a better photographer, more present and creative.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
I’ve travelled pretty extensively already but have never photographed a wedding in the Netherlands so I’d love to shoot there at some point soon.
Who is your dream client?
In my brand positioning with a good friend and graphic designer a few years ago I discovered that when I really narrow it down I love photographing people with confidence. The confidence to be themselves and unapologetically celebrate their wedding day being present and authentic in who they are. The confidence to wear a $100 dress with $2000 shoes.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Be present! Trust your vendors and let go on the day.
