Tell us about your business!
I’m a hybrid film and digital photographer who specializes in elopement and small weddings. Based in San Francisco, I’ve been documenting weddings for 10 years across California and internationally.
What would you like couples to know about you?
My dad was the first person I saw freeze time, and I’ve been enamored by photography ever since. He taught me the importance of documenting and preserving visual memory.
As a photographer, I aim to be a relaxed presence, letting the day flow, guiding only when needed, and documenting along the way. I tend to take a very observational approach, encouraging couples to leave space to take it all in, to stay true to what feels right for them and their story, to leave some room for spontaneity, and to stay present with each other and their loved ones.
Where are you based?
San Francisco, CA.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes, absolutely! I’m lucky to have documented weddings as far as Taiwan and as close as my backyard, and I love when locations hold significance to the couple, whether that’s a cultural backdrop, a hometown, a family property, or a favorite travel destination.
How would you describe your style?
With photography, I’m always looking to do some world building. What’s the scene, what are the relationships at play, and how can I build on those creatively while staying true to how the day unfolds. So much of the excitement of the wedding day is getting to discover the kinds of imagery you’ll be presented with. I like really being able to live in the day, to feel its pulse, and capture accordingly.
What inspires you?
Really moving cinematography. Reading stories about how people met, whether it’s relationships or friendships. My community of people that keep me fueled creatively through their love and support. I always come back to books with a touch of magical realism when I need a good reset. And a walk around in nature always helps too.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
Both! I love the way each camera in my toolkit has their place in a wedding day and that each of my cameras brings its own texture and storytelling element to the final gallery.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
My city elopements are so special to me. I love that couples lean into more relaxed and unconventional ways to celebrate. Having a smaller celebration often allows for more options to skip around to different locations throughout a day, whether it’s an intimate dinner at a chic restaurant, popping into local stores while walking around their favorite neighborhood, or hosting an afterparty at a lounge-y bar.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
So many places! Though I’m happily traveling close to home, there are some international places like Japan, Berlin, and Iceland that would be lovely to capture. Truly anywhere with artful character and a touch of nature.
Who is your dream client?
Couples who know themselves well, treasure and appreciate art in all its forms, and are intentional about how they want to spend their time.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Do it for yourselves! It’s the one day you get to celebrate your journey together. Figure out what’s important to you, what’s honest to you, and cut out everything else.
