Based in Birmingham, GREDDINS is passionate about analogue photography and holds the belief that photographs are meant to be tangible and part of everyday life, not just viewed on a screen. She approaches each wedding uniquely, ensuring no two are photographed in the same manner. Trust, presence, and building friendships with her couples are the foundation of GREDDINS' work.

Tell us about your business!

My name is Gracie Eddins Causey and I run GREDDINS, a photography studio based in AL of which I am the owner and lead photographer. I work across the country and world for brands and for people to capture images that feel rich, warm and happenstance.

What would you like couples to know about you?

I want to be their friend! I have become great friends with my clients and my dream is to capture them in many seasons of life!

Where are you based?

Birmingham, AL! I love living in Birmingham, it has no ceiling on creative community and is a beautifully close knit city that serves as my favorite home base for all the travelling I get to do for work.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I love travelling for weddings! This summer I have been fortunate enough to be in Matera, Italy, Barcelona, Spain, and in the first week of September I will be in Paris, France and Florence, Italy for wedding celebrations.

How would you describe your style?

After enduring a house fire as a child, I realized the importance of photography as both memory and art. Behind the camera, I search for the intangible: unspoken stories, in-between moments and fleeting emotion found in the small details of human expression.

Working with brands, I create lifestyle imagery with an emphasis on joy and relatability, bringing a personal touch to companies on a mission to connect with individuals over products. Working with people, I focus on capturing unseen details, intergenerational family interactions and gestures of true love and connection.

What is your most memorable career moment?

Being in Italy with my husband Isaiah (who shoots with me often) for Mollie and Aaron’s wedding and her standing us up in front of her guests by saying “these are your new friends they are part of the family this week, eat with them, drink with them, dance with them!” and then sitting down to a 6 course Italian meal with everyone at the table with handwritten letters addressed to both of us. We were so overwhelmed with the hospitality of basically strangers and it set the tone for some of my favorite photos I have ever taken that following week.

What inspires you?

I am constantly inspired by films, the tangible analogue processes of artists, travel nature, music, and my own friendships and family relationships.

How would you describe your working style?

I work fast and casually. Experience is everything to me. I love a change in plan and spontaneity. If we aren’t having fun, what is the point?

Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?

I shoot both. Primarily film but I always still have my sony on me.

Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?

Yes! Every celebration is different so I have a baseline that my clients and I customize according to their plans!

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

I love my heirloom kits. Memories deserve permanence and more than a screen. I ship a box of prints to my clients with a handwritten note with an archival photo album with everything they need to assemble and personalize their album. I want my clients to have experiences with their photos. A gallery link should never be their final destination. They deserve the permanence of the real world and to be revisited.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

I would love to travel to Switzerland; anywhere in Europe is always a dream! I have also never shot in California or Australia and would be delighted to!

Who is your dream client?

My dream clients are present, full of trust, and deeply in love with their life!

What is your advice to couples getting married?

My advice is to do what you want. Put away your phones or Pinterest or opinions of planners or even family sometimes. Do what feels natural and exciting to you as a couple and you cannot go wrong.
