Jonne Amaya is a non-traditional fine jewellery studio that embraces unique diamonds and specialises solely on made-to-order and custom pieces. The Los Angeles-based studio prioritises a real, personal connection between the jeweller and the client that is built on trust and craftsmanship. Jonne Amaya is passionate about offering repurposing services and works with many couples wanting to blend metals from both sides of their families, creating a piece that symbolises the merging of two histories.

Tell us about your business!

We are a fine jewelry studio specializing exclusively in engagement rings for alternative couples and design-focused clients. Our work centers around sculptural, metal-forward design, with every ring made to order and developed in close collaboration with each client: never mass-produced or ready-to-ship. This approach allows us to tailor every detail to the individual, whether through subtle design refinements, fully custom concepts, or the incorporation of inherited family gold — a meaningful representation of two families coming together through a single piece.

We’re especially inspired by intimate weddings, elopements, and non-traditional approaches to commitment.

What would you like couples to know about your business?

We want couples to know our process is rooted in an old-world way of working,  it’s less of a transaction and more of a relationship and a creative process we go through together. Most of our clients feel comfortable enough to text me directly, which I actually love.

We also believe an engagement ring should mean more than just how it looks. From sourcing unique stones, exploring multiple design directions, to incorporating or melting down family gold — every step is intentional. The goal is for the whole experience to feel like the beginning of a journey together, and for the final ring to carry that story with it.

Where is your studio based?

We are based in Los Angeles, with our studio located in the Jewelry District of Downtown. We don’t operate retail stores or partner with other boutiques, instead we prioritize a more intimate, one-on-one approach.

With the current climate feeling so rigid, we’re also drawn to imperfect diamonds, warmer tones, vintage cuts, and interesting facet patterns. These qualities bring depth and individuality to each ring, and we actively lean into them as part of our design approach rather than focus on the old allure of perfection.

How would you describe your brands style?

For us, both the diamond and the metal are equally important, each playing a central role in our designs. Our pieces are crafted to highlight the beauty of both metal and stone, without a strict hierarchy between the two.

Tell us about your favourite piece or design!

I don’t really have a single favorite piece, but I’m especially drawn to custom designs. The process, the back-and-forth, and the exploration are where the work really comes to life.

I also love when clients are open to adding personal details; messages or love notes permanently built into the design. It makes the ring feel even more meaningful and specific to them. Our Poesy setting does this particularly well, and it’s a great example of how text and sentiment can be integrated directly into the piece in a subtle, lasting way.

Where are your jewellery pieces made?

Everything is crafted in our studio in DTLA jewelry district.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

I love offering repurposing services. it’s one of the most meaningful aspects of my work. Many of my clients come to me wanting to blend metals from both sides of their families, creating a piece that symbolizes the merging of two histories. There’s something incredibly special about taking heirloom materials and transforming them into a new chapter of a love story.

Who is your dream client?

I love working with clients who aren’t just certificate buyers. those who understand that a grading report doesn’t tell the whole story of a diamond’s beauty. There are so many incredible stones out there that may not have “perfect” scores on paper but possess unmatched character, fire, and brilliance in real life. The customers who approach the process with an open mind are the ones who end up with the most exceptional diamonds.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Engagement is a deeply significant symbol of commitment  and a shared future. It deserves to be as bold and intentional as the relationship it represents. That’s why I encourage clients to embrace  sculptural designs that go beyond the replicated and traditional. A ring should be more than just a diamond on a band—it should tell a story, feel powerful, and reflect the individuality of the wearer.
