Real Wedding | Miranda + Rory

Rory and Miranda both grew up in Lakewood, Ohio and met through mutual friends when they were in high school and have been together ever since. The past couple of years Miranda was living in Paris, France to learn french and continue her studies in fashion design. Rory would visit for a few weeks at a time however they spent the majority of their engagement apart.

The couple were married at Rory’s parents church in their hometown and had 100 guests. Miranda originally wanted to elope in France but they ultimately decided to get married close to home. The couple opted to have an early ceremony and lunch time reception at French Restaurant L'Albatros, followed by an afterparty. They opted for a minimalist and personal style and had the afterparty at Rory’s brothers house in Lakewood, which has been in their family for three or four generations. It was really important for the couple to feel at home on the day, given that they had spend so much time apart and overseas.

The main inspiration for their wedding was to keep everything simple, intimate and sustainable. They incorporated accents of French inspiration from Monet’s home in Giverny and Miranda did a few paintings to display around the backyard. The couples magical day was captured by Naida from Milkshop Photography.

Rory wore a three-piece suit, tie and shoes from Men’s Warehouse. Miranda wore a bias-cut silk satin designed by A La Robe and a stunning hand-beaded veil by Prea James. Miranda's shoes were from a thrift store, and she changed her earrings for the after party.

Their advice for couples getting married? "Relax. Everything falls into place as it should. Follow you and your fiancé’s vision. It’s easy to get caught up in everyone’s opinion. Only invite those you want to see and invite them ALL. In the end, we wished would have shared our day with everyone we knew."
