WEDDING PLANNER | Elizabeth Hall Events

Elizabeth Hall Events work with couples hosting luxe events in New York City and New England who are eager to treat themselves to the relief that comes from investing in a planning team, so that they can remain focused on making the exciting decisions. Elizabeth Hall Events don’t simply see their responsibility as that of planning your wedding—they’re here to filter out excess noise, pull only the most fitting options, openly educate you about your spending options, and advocate for your very best interests.

Where are you based?

I’m based in New York City. I mainly serve couples all across New York (both the City and upstate), New England, and Washington D.C. However, I’m always happy to travel farther. I could never turn down a good wine-country wedding or a destination affair on the Amalfi Coast!

How would you describe your style?

Classic, with a twist. I grew up in Vermont, so my New England upbringing is definitely the foundation for how I style both weddings and myself however, I always like to inject some of that updated New York City edge. I lean into timelessness, but love a modern moment (think: a classic Carolina Herrera dress with a cape instead of a veil) and so many of the couples I serve speak that same style language. I’m very much about taking a classic aesthetic but updating it just enough so it feels like your own, without crossing into a place that’s overly trendy. I want your wedding to exude your one-of-a-kind energy however, I also want you to be able to look back on photos decades from now without feeling like any of it is dated.

What is your most memorable career moment?

Ah, there are many! I feel very fortunate to have 'pinch me' moments often. When wedding professionals who I’ve admired for a decade reach out asking to work with me- well, nothing can rival that feeling. But one big career moment that stands out to me is completing my first large scale luxury wedding in New York City. Knowing that the couple and their guests had an incredible time and that the look-and-feel of the event turned out to be more than anyone imagined when we first started brainstorming. It was such a feeling of accomplishment, pride, relief, and excitement all wrapped into a single moment I’ll never forget.

What inspires you?

On a personal level, my son. There’s nothing quite like watching him grow, evolve, and learn. He reminds me of the potential and possibilities that constantly surround us if we open our eyes to them. He’s recently started copying the little things my husband does—things I’m shocked he notices—and it really is the coolest thing. Also on a personal level, finding the perfect vintage coupe glass for my dirty martini or finding the perfect outfit for an occasion will always fire me up!

On a professional level, the Sunday New York Times Vows section is full of anecdotes that inspire me and remind me why I do what I do. I love reading all of the unexpected stories about how couples met. I mean, what wedding planner doesn’t love a good meet-cute? I also get incredibly energized when a fellow wedding professional gets as excited as I am about a wedding design we’re working on for a client. It’s so nice to feel like someone 'gets it' and is just as thrilled about and committed to bringing a specific vision to life. It’s pretty electrifying.

What motivates you to do what you do?

I’m most motivated by that impossible to recreate moment when a couple sees their wedding completely set up for the very first time. I work with amazing couples who have great style and clear vision however, even the most savvy couples really struggle to envision how it’s all going to come together. I think that’s my favorite thing about what I do: transforming rough ideas into an immersive event experience that surprises and delights both the couple and their guests. All of the mockups and renderings in the world can’t prepare a couple for just how amazing their day will look and feel in real life. Witnessing that moment when they walk into their reception space and it all finally 'clicks' — that’s the moment I work toward and am most motivated by throughout the process.

How would you describe your working style?

Ultra organized, heavy on communication, and transparent as needed. I have a background in finance, am Scrum-certified, and used to manage a team of analysts in my previous life, so I bring a high level of capability to both project management and budget management. I’m big on openly educating my clients about their spending options. However, I also feel my role as a luxury wedding planner is to filter out the noise. So instead of inundating couples with all of the options, I present only the most fitting ones.

What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?

We really only offer completely customized full-service planning and it’s my favorite not just by default, but because I find the only way we can produce our best work is if we have our hands in everything from the beginning. In order to produce the kind of events we’re all about, we have to unearth the intricacies of who a couple is and that process can take a while. From an emotional standpoint, we truly get to know our couples on a deep, meaningful level. From a logistical one, we’re sourcing rare design details and building environments from the ground up. I love that full service planning allows us the time and space to do both of those things and to do them well.

Where would you love to travel to for work?

Napa is absolutely on my bucket list. I often daydream about planning a wedding there that starts with a stunning open-air ceremony amongst the rolling hills and ends with an intimate, impeccably styled dinner under dripping grape vines. I also would love to get my hands on a destination wedding in Amalfi or Capri. I mean, the lemon trees, the ceramics, the colorful little homes tucked into the hillside—talk about an idyllic background for a storybook celebration! And southern France is definitely another location that calls to me.

Who is your dream client?

We want someone who wants it all, because we love doing it all. I love a couple who goes all-in on guest experience, rather than simply wanting a 'pretty party' or to recreate something they saw on Pinterest. The kind of couple who considers what their guests will see, feel, experience, and remember at every single touch point. The kind of couple who leaves no room for regret because they went BIG on their wedding weekend. They’re people who frequent the best restaurants, uncork the best wine, and love a good Broadway show—and they want a wedding planning experience that helps them protect their personal time so they can continue to enjoy those things. They love the finer things in life and care

deeply about the details — but more than anything, they just want a great party.

What is your advice to couples getting married?

Hire fantastic professionals who inspire you and whom you trust. Then, let them work their magic. Of all the things you can have with a wedding planner or vendor such great rapport, good conversation, aligned styles, trust is absolutely the most important. If a professional makes you nervous, doesn’t seem like they understand your style, or makes you feel like you’ll have to micromanage them for whatever reason, they aren’t a right fit. This moment is all about celebrating and staying present—you want the kind of professionals who will allow you to do just that.
