Tell us about your business!
Alegria Photo and Film was born when the creative duo, led by photographer Gabby and filmmaker Ray, recognised the love, art and joy they can provide couples through their skills. A long term friendship allowed them to combine their creative strengths and seamless synergy in preserving precious moments, providing a complete and unique experience for their couples.
Bringing a calm approach to each day, Gabby and Ray work with authenticity, capturing moments in a timeless style, while adding a hint of editorial flair. Over years their approach has been perfected, allowing the true emotions, love and elegance of each wedding day to shine through their work.
Where are you based?
We are Melbourne based - with Ray living out in the east and Gabby in the west. This means we are almost always close to our couples for meet ups!
Do you travel for weddings?
We absolutely do! We feel incredibly privileged to be able to combine work and travel. It not only allows us to stay motivated to produce the best for our couples, but being in new locations drives our creativity like nothing else.
How would you describe your style?
We describe our style as photojournalism. The moments in each wedding day are captured as they are spontaneously happening, filled with emotion and with a hint of editorial flair. We love to capture true personalities, raw reactions, and genuine connections.
We highlight the big and small details of your day, the moments you may not have recalled happening, and the ones that will be forever treasured.
What motivates you to do what you do?
Having worked in other careers where we haven’t felt inspired, finding the creativeness and joy photography and film brings was motivating enough for us to make the switch. Adding a wedding environment on top of this, where days are filled with love, laughter and happiness, it’s really not hard to find the motivation to show up for each of our couples. Even when the hours of editing may get long, seeing the gratitude from our couples when the final galleries are delivered is such a special feeling.
How would you describe your working style?
We create a calm and nonchalant presence, yet work with diligence and thoroughness. Having known each other for years now, we know each other's strengths and how to maximise this throughout a wedding day. We may jump in at different points throughout the day to guide or give small pointers, but we love to blend in with the crowd and capture each moment as it is spontaneously happening.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
We absolutely do! We know every couple and every wedding is its own unique day. We have packages that can be a good starting point for our couples to see what they may need, but each day can be tailored to match to every need, idea and style.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
We’ve got quite a few spots on the bucket list. The Dolomites is probably number one at the moment, but many spots throughout Italy are not far behind including Puglia, Sicily and Tuscany. Also dreaming of a Cape Town wedding one day!
Who is your dream client?
Our dream client doesn’t have a particular personality, style or feature. We aren’t chasing any specific trend or theme of wedding. Our dream client simply understands and appreciates the art and value that is photography and film. They trust us completely, knowing we will capture the essence of their day in its entirety, emotion, joy and love filled, while they are having the time of their life.
How do you select music to your films?
When selecting music for films, we like to prioritise a timeless quality over trends in pop culture. We often like to seek a blend of classical instruments that portray a timeless element paired with higher energy tracks that match the dynamic energy of the reception.
While we maintain a distinct style preference, we also understand that music is also quite individualistic and must resonate with both the couple and the unique atmosphere of the wedding.
