Tell us about your business!
Hello, I’m Peggy. I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Western Australia, and I am all about with keeping things real and playful. I have photographed over 300 weddings from the small elopements to the grand affairs, and I wind up wanting to be friends with all my couples after being privy to their innermost intimate wedding day moments. For me, it’s all about human connection.
What would you like couples to know about you?
I am all about the wildly authentic. I am drawn to the fearless lovers, those who dare to do things their way. I am drawn to the small moments that would often go unnoticed on wedding days, my photos reflect my inquisitive nature.
Where are you based?
I am based in Perth, Western Australia.
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes I sure do. Say where, and I am there with bells on!
How would you describe your style?
Documentary and very real. Playful. I gravitate toward the moments rather than the posed and structured. I have an eye for beautiful details, and am drawn to intimate moments. I go heavy on photos of guests, as I feel the photos of the faces of loved ones will be what people adore the most in many years to come.
What is your most memorable career moment?
Being flown to France to photograph a wedding over three days at a chateau was surreal. I was generously given a very grand room to stay in at the chateau with the couple’s family for the weekend. I spent the last day sitting on the lawn at the chateau drinking Moët and eating Maccas with the couple and their closest, after the most wonderful three days. Absolute highlight.
What inspires you?
Lovers who do things their way, people who don’t do traditional for the sake of traditional. The intimate moments between people. I am drawn to watching people interact, and the huge love that binds people together on a wedding day is what makes my heart swell.
How would you describe your working style?
Playful and fun. 100% of feedback so far has been that I am relaxed, calm and easygoing. I don’t take myself too seriously and love a good time.
Do you shoot digitally, on film or both?
Both! I currently shoot full digital and offer film as an added option and encourage couples to go the film. Always go the film.
Do you have custom packages according to individual needs?
I offer coverage required to suit each wedding, with albums and prints as added options. All collections are customisable to suit.
What is a favourite product or service that you offer and why?
My 8 hour collection with film added on is a hit. From getting ready to dance floor, this documents your day from the start until the glorious chaos commences, with grainy film goodness as a delicious side.
Where would you love to travel to for work?
Japan is definitely at the top of my list. And Finland!
Who is your dream client?
Definitely the laidback couples who aren’t too concerned with perfect timing and too much structure. I love to keep it light so I find I gel well with super relaxed couples who don’t mind a bit of playfulness.
What is your advice to couples getting married?
Do things that you want to do. Don’t listen too much to what others have done and definitely don’t follow traditions just because you feel you must. Do what makes you happy, this is the one day you get to be yourself and your faves will celebrate that with and for you.
